The present study has been prepared by the Topic Centre for the European Commission as an input to the process of elaborating the Thematic Strategy on the Prevention and Recycling of Waste.

The report constitutes the first part of a comparative study of LCA and CBA which will be published as a Technical report by the European Environment Agency in 2005.
