This project investigates the possibilities and advantages of using the European Waste List codes instead of Basel convention codes when reporting transboundary waste shipments. By using the codes in the European Waste List instead of the Basel codes the working paper gives a much better understanding of the transboundary shipments of waste in Europe. The main added value is related to:
-What type of waste is transboundary shipped
-Which processes are behind the generation of the wastes
-Which special hazardousness or hazardous substances are related to the waste
